Online schools describe institutions that teach courses principally by online methods.
Students maintain contact with teachers and liaise with their colleagues through online communication methods or platforms provided for course delivery. Students also communicate by phone, email; hold interactive sessions by teleconferencing, and other technological means provided by the school.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Online programs allow a student to stay in school when traditional schools no longer accept them. The student’s absence from traditional school may be due to several reasons such as medical conditions.  On the other hand, students who have physical stabilities or transportation problems discover that they succeed in online schools without having to be physically present there.

Moreover, the assertion that online programs are a quiet, solitary experience no longer holds true. Students, parents, and educators, have been interviewed and what works and why have been discovered.
Students, who work and have family obligations, and parents returning school, now fit schooling into their busy schedule, which was not possible before online programs.
There are a few drawbacks against online schools. For example, people say that students learning in a home environment find it hard to focus on their learning or stay on task and that the cost of start-up is huge, added to differences in the digital divide, and issues regarding accreditation.
However, this does not in any way detract from the fact that many students are attracted to online  programs  for the reason that it enables them to avoid having to go to a physical location, which may turn out to be impossible for many non-traditional learners.  One way online programs are proving their worth is the implementation of the same standard of testing that traditional schools demand of their students.
That said here are five surprising traditional perspectives that are still obtained in online programs.

1.    Students get interactive sessions with teachers and fellow students.

2.    Online courses are not easier than traditional ones.

3.    Online education works for unmotivated students, just as it works for self-disciplined ones.

4.    Online learning creates a lot of free time for extracurricular activities.
